Gorge Scrambling, Gorge Walking or even known as Ghyll Scrambling, this activity has all the fun, the excitement and all the adventure that you can imagine.
It involves you taking a journey up a river. The river provides natural challenges for you to overcome. These challenges could include plunge pools, squeezes, climbing and many more other fun and thrilling activities along the way, all under the supervision of your experienced guide.
Gorge walking is a fairly physically demanding activity. Superb for all kind of groups as well as individuals. To book a session you need a minimum of 4 persons, unless we are already running a session to which you can join. Suitable for children 12yrs plus
You will need to take along swimwear, towel, pair of shorts, and trainers or walking boots (good sole needed) to wear in the gorge.
- Gorge Walking is a ½ day activity.
- Groups arrive in Betws-y-coed for an agreed time for meeting and greeting.
- Get all your safety kit, wet suits, buoyancy aids and helmets
- Travel to the venue (Afon Ddu) approx 15 minute drive from our centre. (Transport is not provided unless otherwise arranged).
- The day finishes back at our centre to de-kit.

Terms & Conditions
1.1. These Booking Terms and Conditions apply
to the booking of gorge walking through Snowdonia Adventure Hub Ltd (SAH)
1.2. No variation to these Booking Terms and Conditions shall be binding unless agreed in writing
1.3. These Booking Terms and Conditions contain important information concerning participation
by you and members of your party and, as such, you acknowledge and agree that you shall
ensure that all members of your party are aware of and accept these Booking Terms and
1.4. SAH reserves the right to make changes to the gorge walking Activity.
1.5. Any typographical, clerical or other error or omission in any booking confirmation or other
documentation issued by SAH (including any electronic documentation) shall be subject to
correction without any liability on the part of SAH.
1.6. SAH complies with the requirements of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling)
2.1. There are some inherent risks associated with Gorge Walking. The Gorge Walking
activitiy may be physically and challenging. All participants will receive appropriate
training from an instructor prior to commencing the activity.
2.2. SAH reserves the right to refuse admittance to the Gorge Walking activity or to remove a
participant from the Gorge Walking activity should it deem necessary to do so. This includes a
participant who does not comply with the safety rules and advice and the safety system or who is
deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
2.3. All participants must be reasonably fit and healthy, a minimum of age of 12 years.
2.4. All participants are required to wear a full body wetsuit and helmet provided by SAH .
2.5. The Gorge Walking activitiy may be physically demanding and require a degree of agility,
strength and stamina. If participants
have medical concerns they are advised to consult their doctor in advance. Participants will be
required to certify that they do not suffer from any medical condition which would make it more
likely that they would be involved in any incident which could result in injury to themselves or
others (including pregnancy).
2.6. All participants are required to act responsibly and courteously at all times and to respect
other participants. SAH shall be entitled to prevent any person from undertaking or completing the
Gorge Walking in the event of unsuitable behaviour by a participant.
2.7. Participants must be dressed appropriately (see clause 5) and SAH reserves the right to
refuse admittance to the Gorge Walking activity by any participant who is not appropriately
2.8. The Gorge Walking activity will remain open in most weather conditions (but not in gales,
lightning, heavy ice or snow).
2.9. No refunds or compensation will be payable by SAH in the event that any
participant is not permitted to, or decides not to, undertake or complete the Gorge Walking
Activitiy for the reasons set out in this clause.
3. Booking Confirmation
3.1. No booking shall be deemed to have been accepted unless accepted in writing by SAH (this
shall include SAH email confirmation of booking).
3.2. These Booking Terms and Conditions incorporate a SAH Acknowledgement of Risk Form.
You and each member of your party over the age of 16 will be required to sign the
Acknowledgement of Risk Form before being allowed to undertake the Gorge Walking.
Those under the age of 16 shall only be permitted to partake if the SAH consent
form is signed by a parent or legal guardian
3.3. You must advise SAH as soon as possible of any mistake in SAH booking confirmation. SAH
shall take reasonable care to ensure that your and your party’s session commences at the time
booked and it shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they arrive in sufficient
time. Late arrivals may not be permitted to undertake the Gorge Walking and no refunds
or compensation will be payable in such circumstances.
3.4. Group Bookings (A party of six or more individuals) is subject to additional terms in Section 9.
4.1. You will be entitled to cancel your booking up to 28 days prior to activity. You shall be entitled to a full refund in the event of cancellation under this clause.
4.2. SAH shall be entitled to cancel your booking at any time. In the event that SAH decides to cancel your booking it will use reasonable measures to notify you as soon as possible. You shall
be entitled to a full refund in the event of cancellation under this clause but no other compensation
will be payable.
4.3. In the event that it proves necessary to close the Gorge Walking route for reasons beyond
the control of SAH and in circumstances where your party has commenced participation in the
Gorge Walking, you shall not be entitled to any refund (in part or in whole). In such
circumstances SAH may, but will not be obliged to, offer alternative dates or times at no additional
4.4. Group Bookings (A party of six or more individuals) is subject to additional terms in Section 9.
5.1. It will be the responsibility of all participants to ensure that they are dressed appropriately and
SAH advises participants to wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions and which they
do not mind being damaged. In particular the following restrictions will apply: 5.1.1. participants
may not undertake the Gorge Walking activity in sandals or unlaced shoes (training shoes are advised)
5.1.2. long hair must be tied back
5.1.3 scarves are not permitted to be worn
5.1.4. jewellery and body piercings must be removed or taped over
5.2. SAH will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of clothing or other personal items of
persons resulting from participation in the Gorge Walking activity
6. Price and Payment
6.1. Subject to any terms agreed in writing between SAH and you, our charges will be calculated
at our current rates and payment in full shall be due at the time of booking. Payment may be
made by debit or credit card either by telephoning the booking line: 01690 710914
6.2 Prices are subject to change
Payments made by debit or credit card will be refunded to the same card.
8.1. Except as otherwise provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions SAH shall not be
responsible for the loss or damage to any property or to any person arising from the booking of or
participation in the Gorge Walking Activity.
8.2. Parking facilities are available at the site, and any vehicle and its contents is left at the

shall be limited to the refund of any charges paid to SAH.
8.4. Nothing contained in these Booking Terms and Conditions is intended to nor shall limit the
liability of TTA in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of TTA or of its
employees, agents or contractors.
9. Group Bookings
9.1. A party of six or more individuals will constitute a group booking and will be subject to the
following additional terms.
9.2. All payments must be made in full before the activities begin. Special arrangements can be negotiated
where purchase orders/invoices are to be generated, payment by BACS, debit card or cheque
must be made within 28 days of the date the invoice was issued.
9.3. Any debts remaining unpaid after due date of invoice will attract late interest
charges of 8% above bank of England base rate in accordance with late payment act 1998
9.4. We require 28 days notice for any drop in numbers or cancellations, a group cancelling or
drop in numbers within 28 days of the activity will be charged in full.
9.5. If a discounted price is offered this is based on group size and date given. Should you reduce
your group size at any time prior to the event your booking will be repriced accordingly and
further charges may apply.
9.6. If your reserved participant numbers do not attend the activity total cost will still apply. Extra
participants may be added subject to availability and additional costs.
9.7. Changing activity dates will result on an administration fee of £25 being charged
and this is always at the discretion of SAH.
10.1. If any of these terms are determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable it shall
be severed and deleted from these terms and the remaining terms shall endure, remain in full
force and continue to be binding and enforceable.
10.2. Nothing above shall confer on any third party any benefit or the right to enforce any of these
Booking Terms and Conditions.
10.3. These Booking Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance
with the laws of England and Wales
